Studio Equipment & Armatures
As important as the work itself is the equipment and armatures a sculptor uses to produce their work, studio furniture that is designed to bear the weight of stone or a vice to safely hold wood when carved. A modelling stand can position a clay model so the sculptor can work comfortably for extended periods of time and have the means to freely rotate and adjust the working height as they go. Robust carving stands are capable of carrying large weights, raising the work off the floor and offering the ability to rotate and free up studio space.
Armatures are used to create a flexible form to hold clay and other modelling materials and a soft aluminium wire is a lightweight solution that has the strength to hold its shape but remains flexible enough to reposition when required. Thinner gauge copper and steel wires can be used when modelling in smaller scales or to bind larger armatures together.
